Can you believe it?! It’s finally here. It’s finally finished.
The Home Office Reveal!
You guys! I have been working on this room for two and a half months. I’m so glad to have my home office back. My family is happy to have me back in my home office, too {I talk to myself when I work, and they’re sick of listening to me mutter while working at the dining room table}! :0)
Come on in for the grand tour!
Paint Color
If you remember way back to the beginning of May when I posted the plan for this room {if you missed it, you can check it out here}, one of the big things I wanted to change in this room was the paint color. It was originally a heinous cross between Baby Diaper Yellow & Harvest Gold.
Here a little refresher from the before. #ShieldYourEyes
I’m not afraid to take risks with paint color {we have a black wall in our house…I’ll show you sometime}, and I did that again with this office redo. I figured second time’s a charm! Right? Right?!
This color is Fresh Peaches from Behr.
What do you think?
I LOVE it! It’s bright and cheery and energizing during the day when the sunlight pours into my office, and it’s warm and cozy at night! Plus, I love how it contrasts with the white molding.
The Triple Duty Thing
Originally, this room was doing triple duty as an office, craft room, and guest room. Uh…it didn’t work! There was just too much going on. So, we booted the guest room and moved the queen-sized bed up to my son’s room. He’s taller than me and pretty much the size of an adult, so he needed a bigger bed anyway.
After pulling the bed out, I was able to fit a regular desk in here which added tons of storage to the room. #ByeByePaperPiles
Removing the bed from the room also remedied a big part of the “Drop Zone” problem. It was easy to just bring stuff in and drop it on the bed in the midst of a crisis clean up {as in: company will be here in 30 minutes…yikes!}.
There isn’t as much space to just throw stuff in here now. A nice thing come Monday mornings when I need to get into the office.
Storage
Another one of my big goals with this room was to bring in more functional furniture that offered better storage. The desk helped with that. I also found this awesome dresser at a store here in town. I love the vintage feel of it, and it has a ton of storage! It also hides my printer from the doorway. #WinWin
The two bookshelves were all ready in the room, but I did a serious declutter on them and brought in some baskets and magazine files.
Hubs helped me install a single shelf between the two bookshelves that serves as additional storage for items that I need handy but don’t use all of the time. It’s also a great place to spread out if I’m working on a huge project.
Better Separation Between Room Roles
The other goal I had in redoing this room was to create better separation between the “roles” of the room: office and craft room. Before, there were craft supplies and work files and household piles all jumbled together. It was a nightmare for organization and it was incredibly overwhelming.
By bringing the desk in, I created a dedicated space for office work and household paper work.
I also created a craft “room” in the closet.
Decluttering and organizing my craft supplies was quite the process {you can read about it here}, but it was SO worth it! I love having a dedicated area to craft. All of my tools are close at hand, and I know where everything is! Plus, I created some fun storage solutions for “problem craft supplies.”
This work area also serves as a great place for the kids to do their homework when I’m doing office work. We can still be together, but we all get our work done!
Crafty, DIY Projects
I completed several crafty, DIY projects in this room. I love those types of projects, and they helped me keep my budget low!
DIY Home Office Command Center
I love this command center that I made out of an old window frame and some chicken wire {you can read more here}!
I stamped fun and colorful tags for events and “blinged up” stamped tags for each day of the week. I also added a spot for my ongoing projects and a printable cover to keep things organized and pretty.
DIY Magazine Files
I purchased a set of five Ikea Flyt Magazine Files from Amazon for added storage. They were super cheap but a little boring. So, I grabbed my scrapbook paper and went to town.
You can see that I got better at lining up the scrapbook paper as I moved through the magazine files (right to left). :0)
Writing Utensil Storage
In case you didn’t know it all ready, I have a problem with pens. As in I have waaayyy to many of them! I got this lovely, vintage, metal basket for my birthday which helped.
I also created this DIY beauty with a few tin cans and some scrapbook paper {read more here}!
Here it is in the office on one of the shelves in the dresser:
Altered Curtains
I found a pair of inexpensive curtains, but they were too short. I put my thinking cap on and sewed some fun, flirty, and feminine fabric onto the bottom for added length. {See the full post here!}
Added Seating with Colorful Pillows
This is an extra bench from our dining room set that works great for added seating. You’d be amazed at how often we’re all hanging out in the office {usually when I ask for opinions on photos or blog posts}! :0)
The fun, colorful pillows on this bench were super easy. I just wrapped the fabric around the pillows and tied the ends of the fabric in a knot!
The Ones That Didn’t Get Done
There were a couple of projects that didn’t get done… #BooHoo
I wanted to complete a DIY take on this dachshund art but ran out of time. It will probably show up on the blog at some point!
Isn’t it sweet? You can get it {in multiple colors} from ElfShoppe on Etsy.
I was also inspired by the “Fancy Bookshelves with Crown Molding” post on Just a Girl and Her Blog, but that one had to wait as well.
I also wanted to do something fabulous, feminine, and surprising with my rather modern, masculine desk, but alas, again time was not on my side. That project is definitely getting done at some point, so stay tuned!
Aaaaand Done {For Now}!
So, after lots of decluttering and organizing, changing up of furniture, and completing the crafty, DIY projects, my home office is done {for now} and back in business! Now I love “going” to work each day, and I’m much more productive!
Have you redone any rooms lately? How’d it go?

Your office looks wonderful 🙂 I absolutely love you craft “closet”!! I too use my office as a quick stash all! Thanks for inspiring me to de clutter and organize my office!
Hi, Sherri ~ Thanks so much for dropping by today and thanks for your sweet words about my home office! I’m loving my craft closet, too. It’s so nice to have a dedicated space where all of my supplies are handy and where I can walk away in the middle of the project without putting my family out of the dining room when it comes time for dinner! Unfortunately, offices are good places for quick stashes. Good luck with your decluttering and organizing! Share a photo with me on Facebook or Instagram when you finish {I have a weird obsession with offices}! :0) Have an amazing weekend!!
Looks great!!! Love the shelf behind the desk, all the cute decor items and SO smart putting the craft “roo in the closet!!!!
Hi, Sara ~ Thanks so much! I love that shelf behind my desk…as long as I don’t use it for piling up stuff that I don’t want to deal with. :0) I’m so excited about my “craft room in the closet!” Thanks for dropping by!
Tiffany, I love the golden glow. Your craft closet makes me green with envy! Grade: Excellent Overall Overhaul.
Hi, Melinda ~ I love that glow, too! And I love how the light in the office changes with the light outside. The wall color changes with the light, too. SO gorgeous! You’re so sweet! Thank you! You mentioned in another comment that you might give the closet craft room project a try…if you do, make sure you share a pic or two with me on Facebook!!
Great job on the office. I love reveals! So fun to see all the before and afters. My favorite is your craft closet! Love the magazine files and DIY pen holders. And don’t worry… you’re not the only person that talks to themselves. My kids are always asking me who I’m talking to. Saying things aloud helps me process my thoughts better. Enjoy the weekend, and then enjoy that office come Monday!
Hi, Erin ~ Thanks! I’m a sucker for before and afters, too! :0) That craft closet is getting lots of votes for fav. I love that! It’s such a nice place to get my craft on. And there’s almost nothing I love more than a cheap buy that I can “bling” up and the mag files and pen holders were just that! I’m SO glad to hear I’m not the only one who talks to myself! That’s so it: talking helps me process and organize my thoughts. Thanks so much! Hope you have an amazing weekend, too!!
It looks great. So cheery. I can’t imagine what an endeavor that was. You are lucky to have a space dedicated to just you. I love the paint color and how great and simple are those pillows!! My kind of “sewing”
Hi, Mary ~ Thank you so much! Cheery…that’s the perfect word for my newly revamped office! :0) It was a lot of work, but it was so worth it in the end. I am really lucky to have a space just for me {the fact that I work the day job at home helps to justify that}! So glad that you like the paint color. I love how it ended up, but those first few brush strokes had me seriously second guessing myself. Yes, those pillows are a great kind of “sewing!” Thanks for joining me!
Tiffany, that is SUCH a happy color! It makes me want to get to work 🙂 Congrats on your office makeover, it looks great!
Hi, Megan ~ I know! I just love the color! It’s very energizing and does make me want to get to work. And believe me, oftentimes, I need all the help I can get! :0) Thanks so much! Have a great day!
Looks Great Tiffany!! I love how you organized your crafting supplies! I haven’t been able to finish my craft room/office yet, but I just love getting inspiration from your makeover. 🙂
Hi, Stephanie ~ Thanks so much! My craft supplies get jumbled so easily, so having a place for everything is a must! Keep me posted on your craft room/office redo. Have a great day!
I’m loving the final product! That peach color is perfect, and such a cheery color.
Hi, Amanda ~ Thanks so much! The peach color is a little wild, but I love it! Thanks for dropping by!
Wow! Love the color, Tiffany! The wall color and the black really pops! I can’t believe you finished this so quickly! That’s amazing! Have an awesome week!
Hi, Cristi ~ I love how the black and the peach pop against each other, too! It didn’t feel like I finished quickly, but I wasn’t doing a major restoration work, either! I can’t wait to see your completed Studio! :0) Thanks for dropping by!
What you did with the closet is absolutely genius!
Thank you so much! It’s such a great place to work, and I LOVE having everything at my fingertips. Thanks for dropping by!
It looks so nice! I love, love, love your craft closet (and a tad bit jealous that you have a whole closet for crafts!). You’ve organized the whole space so well and have so many creative touches. Beautiful and functional!
Hi, Jenny ~ Thanks for stopping by! Thank you! That craft closet is pretty exciting! I love being able to sit down and work without having to move my other junk! ;0) You’re so sweet! Thanks for all of your kind words. Thanks again for visiting and have an amazing day!
Such a great transformation! I am also a HUGE fan of color….but my husband is a true boring beige man. I can’t wait until we have the space to create a crafting mecca of my own. I love how you added the little shelf behind your desk as an over-flow area….so smart!
Hey, Christine ~ Great to “see” you! :0) Thank you so much! It’s hard to balance two very different styles. It’s funny, I love the country style which is all about neutrals, but I always seem to choose the bright and brilliant colors! My husband also loves color. Several months ago, my husband “surprised” me by painting our entire bedroom – vaulted ceilings and all – two different color of blue. It was such a sweet act, but I don’t really love the blues… :0} Good luck balancing your colorful style with your husband’s! I’m so excited for you to get your very own crafting space! I love to spread out when I work, so that shelf behind the desk was a must. Thanks so much for checking out my home office redo! Have a fabulous day!!
This looks amazing!! Such an inspiration. I LOVE your color scheme.
Thanks, Georgia! I’m loving the colors, too. And the peach on the wall does such cool things as the light changes! Thanks for visiting!
